Do
not under any circumstances
blindly delete dbAlarm |
If you
delete dbAlarm from the Palm OS, the Palm OS will erase your datebook
database because for dbAlarm to work, it must have the same
creator ID as the built-in datebook application which in turn has the
same creator ID as the datebook database (and the Palm OS removes ALL
items with the same creatorID as the item you are deleting). To safely delete
dbAlarm, use the attached freeware file utility: Z'Catalog
|
Installation Instructions
- Install dbAlarm.prc like any Palm OS program - just double-click on the
PRC file or use the Palm Install Tool to install it and then hotsync to copy
it to your PalmDevice.
Operational Note
- During a hotsync, the hotsync application may display a note about
synchronizing dbAlarm instead of synchronizing the datebook database as it
finds dbAlarm with the same creator ID and thinks that might be the
database being synchronized. This is purely a cosmetic issue - your
datebook database is being synchronized normally and properly.
Removal Instructions
- Install Z'Catalog (again in the same way you would install any Palm OS
program).
- Launch Z'Catalog from the main application screen
- Select PREFERENCES from the OPTIONS menu, check the box Allow Dangerous
Actions and tap on Done
- Select dbAlarm in the left name column by tapping on it.
- Select Delete from the DB
- Answer Yes to the delete confirmation dialog.
Files in the dbAlarm.zip
Archive
- dbAlarm.prc- the applet
that will prevent duplicate alarms
- READ-ME-FIRST-before
installing dbAlarm.htm - the
file you are now reading
- ZarfCatalog-10.prc - a
freeware file utility that you can use to safely remove dbAlarm if you
no longer want to use it. Usually referred to as Z'Catalog.
Note on use with DateBk5
If you are using DateBk5, you do not have to use Z'Catalog to remove
the alarm applet - just uncheck the box DateBk5 Handles Alarms in
the Alarms Tab of the main preference panel and you will then be able to
safely delete dbAlarm from the main application screen (tap on the Do Not
Delete icon first to confirm that it is safe to delete it).
Cheers!
