This file is only intended for
Power Users who want to know every single issue and fix that have been applied
in all prior interim releases.
Fixes and New Features in
V-2.0c
New Features in this Release:
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Some early models of Sony Clie and Palm M505/515 had a
problem whereby the Palm OS would freely create non-word aligned handles.
Handles are supposed to always be word-aligned in the palm OS, so DbFixIt was
checking for this condition. If you see this error occurring on every record,
however, this is a giveaway that your handheld has this bug (it was
subsequently fixed by both Palm and Sony). There is a menu option in this
version Non word Aligned Handles that toggles this test on and off. It
is On by default.
Fixes and New Features in
V-2.0b
New Features in this Release:
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- The new feature to remove duplicate records was not always
properly leaving the duplicate record alone if the user indicated they did not
want to remove the duplicate record.
Fixes and New Features in
V-2.0a
New Features in this Release:
- Adds new feature to remove Deleted records in all
four PIM databases (and also allows this feature to be used with any generic
database, although the user is advised to use this feature with caution on
other databases).
- Adds over a dozen new checks for various error conditions
in databases, including some complex checks for errors that would normally
cause the Palm OS to crash even before an application had a chance to look at
certain data records.
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Note: V-2.0a is a $5.95 upgrade from V-1.1. However, if you
had purchased DbFixIt, V-1.1 after September 30, 2009, email Support for an
updated registration code.
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.1e
New Features in this Release: Now permits use of
device serial number if device has never been hotsynced.
New Fixes/Changes in this Release: (none)
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.1d
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Cosmetic changes only: fixed a few typos in the info tips
help files.
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.1c
New Features in this Release:
- Now remembers the setting of the Remove Deleted Recs
checkbox and automatically restores it when the program is run.
New Fixes/Changes in this Release: (none)
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.1b
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Now reports the specific Palm OS database error code, when
DbFixIt is unable to open a database for some reason. These error codes are
covered on the last page of the manual, and should also be provided to Tech
Support to determine what the problem is...
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.1a
New Features in this Release:
- Now remembers the last selected file in the saved
preferences, so on subsequent launch, the same file is selected (also restores
the selection of the PIM and OTHER buttons.
- Has a new menu option (Other DatabaseTypes...) to
allow up to ten database types to be specified for inclusion in the Other
list. By default the only database type is 'DATA'. Up to 10 database types can
be specified by separating them with a comma (such as DATA,Data, libr).
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Now reports two numbers for the wasted space caused by
corrupt Blobs: the first number is the actual wasted space in the
current database, followed by the potentially wasted space if the
database is copied or hotsynced. The latter number (which is the only number
reported previously) may be larger than the first number since, the actual
wasted space by corrupt Blob cannot exceed the remaining space left in the
physical record (i.e. the Blob actually extends past the end of the
physical record).
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.0o
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Includes improved logic for repairing/re-initializing a
corrupt AppInfoBlock in the PIM databases on newer PalmOne devices. This
addresses some Incompatible version errors reported by the built-in PIM
apps if the AppInfoBlock is corrupt.
- Includes proper error checking and reporting now for a
calculation error on a repeat specification caused by corruption in the
Datebook/Calendar/Tasks database repeat information.
Slip 2007_07_31_12_16
- Avoids generating the message that the AppInfoBlock was
reset when user did not confirm they wanted to proceed (the block was not
reset, but the message appeared anyway).
Slip 2007_07_31_15_16
- Avoids spurious record underlock error if a Task has an
invalid repeat specification and the user taps the Quit button
when the error message is displayed.
- Updates Manual to include note about how Agendus uses the
Tasks repeat structure in a way that is not compatible with the built-in Tasks
application and which may cause the built-in app to reset if the record is
edited with the built-in Tasks app.
- If Agendus is present, certain incompatibilities in the
usage of the Tasks database repeat specification that would crash the built-in
Tasks Application are reported as Warnings rather than Errors, since Agendus
intentionally sets those values.
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.0n
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Fixes issue of DbFixIt sometimes listing a resource
database in the Other list (only record databases with a type of
'DATA' are scanned at this time). Scanning a resource database could result in
unexpected but spurious error reports.
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.0m (there was no V-1.0l)
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Fixes problem of Remove Deleted Records generating a
spurious Create Database Failed, error code = 537 error if one of the
PIM databases has zero records (i.e. not even any deleted records).
- Now includes a more robust mechanism to deal with the bug
in Palm's Dm Patch Software that can cause the spurious DmWrite:
DmWrite Check Failed error on any access to a PIM database (especially the
PalmSource "mirror" Database). It will now display the deleted record count
when the database is selected, and will also allow removal of all deleted
records (menu option) without having the DM Patch software crash underneath.
If the AddressDB database had a deleted record, just tapping the Other
button was sufficient to cause this reset because AddressDB is
typically the first database listed which made it unfortunately look like a
problem in DbFixIt itself as the first thing it does is try and read the count
of deleted records.
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.0k (there was no V-1.0j)
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Fixes problem of spurious: Tasks Database, 'dataFlags.repeat'
set, but pointer was Null error message getting generated under some
circumstances when in fact the Repeat specification was valid.
Fixes and New Features in
V-1.0i
New Features in this Release: (none)
New Fixes/Changes in this Release:
- Fixes problem of getting a DmRecordResize error: #516
if using the Remove all Calendar Blobs menu function on an unregistered
version of DbFixIt and Blobs are found.
- Reduces the height of the Alert that appears when an
unknown CreatorID is found on a Blob in the contacts database, so the name of
the database is clearly visible right above it.
