Comments from Users on various forums:

Just a quick line of thanks for turning my HTC Desire from a nice toy to a
useful tool. The calendar apps for android were unbelievably poor until
Pimlical was issued. I have just downloaded it and have been trying it out and
it's wonderful. I can stop mourning for my Palm Centro with DateBook6 now.

Your software is so much better than all the rest. I used to use Datebk6
on my Palm and am so much happier now!

I was so very excited this morning when I saw that Pimlical for Android was released. Last week I downloaded [Other Calendar Program] was less than impressed and promptly deleted it prior to the exciting discovery. Thank YOU CESD

This has been mentioned in a couple of threads, but definitely deserves a thread of its own. Good news for anyone looking for a serious diary app.

This calendar program is already a big improvement over all of the other Android calendar programs I've tried

CESD beautiful job... at last I can leave the trusty treo.

The resulting Android Pimlical is running beautifully and is already vastly superior to the [Other Calendar] beta that I've been using as a stopgap.

Platform Availability

As a brand new application, Pimlical is making its debut as either a standalone application for Windows or as a replacement for the V-6.2 Palm Desktop's calendar, tasks, contacts and memo applications. In either case, Pimlical can read and write Google Calendars and brings all the power of Pimlical when displaying those calendars.

ALL handheld/Smartphone users with devices that currently sync with Google Calendar (iPhone, Android, WebOS, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, Symbian, etc.) can benefit from the fact that Pimlical/Desktop brings powerful capabilities to Google Calendar, such as the ability to track items in different timezones, display custom colors, fonts, quickly select different sets of calendars, perform highly sophisticated searches, etc.

And current DateBk users will find that Pimlical provides very similar features and in particular will read and write all of DateBk's special features, such as colors, fonts, icons, floating events, as well as provide a DateBk-style integrated view of appointments and tasks. It is highly recommended that you upgrade to DateBk6 if you are also using Pimlical.

If you are looking at migrating from a PalmDesktop/PalmHandheld solution while retaining your calendar data, Pimlical/Pimlical-Android will provide that path - click here for some suggestions on how to handle that.

During 2012, Pimlico Software plans to roll out versions for other desktop and handheld platforms with a similar feature set.  There are no specific timetables available at this time. You may want to come back to this page on a regular basis to see what new versions have been released, or are available as a preview release.
